Recount Scheduled For Tuesday In Ansonia

Ansonia officials will conduct a recount for two Aldermen races and one of the borrowing questions put to voters Nov. 5.

The recount is scheduled for 9 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 12 on the lower level of Ansonia City Hall.

The recounts are for Aldermen races in the First and Third wards, according to a letter from Ansonia Town Clerk Madeline Bottone.

In addition, the city will recount votes for the following question — which passed by just one vote Nov. 5

Should the city borrow “$495,000 to pay for road and parking improvements on Woodbridge Avenue Extension, Beech Street and Hilltop Hose Driveway and the West Main Street parking lot?”

The recount is happening because the votes cast are within a 20-vote range, according to Bottone’s letter.

In the First Ward Aldermen’s race, Democrat Edward Adamowski and Republican Charles Stowe were declared the winners with 269 and 268 votes respectively.

Democrat Peter Marcinko and Republican Natalie Biasucci tied with 258 votes.

In the Third Ward Aldermen’s race, Democrats Joseph Jeanette, Jr. and Denice Hunt were declared winners with 234 and 222 votes respectively.

Republican candidates Valeria Wells and Dan King received 218 and 206 votes respectively.

Ansonia City Hall is at 253 Main St.
