Rep. Perillo: Remember The Neediest This Holiday Season

Right here in Shelton we have a tremendous resource: The Spooner House.

With the Holidays upon us, and we enjoy all that we have to be thankful for, it is important to lend to hand to those less fortunate.

You can help out locally by considering a contribution or volunteering to help the Spooner House carry out its mission of assistance.

Spooner House is operated by Area Congregations Together, Inc. with the mission of providing food, shelter, and support services to people in need. They devote their energies to helping clients establish self-sufficient living.

Annually, Spooner House provides:

  • Emergency shelter to an average of 200 individuals, which results in over 12,000 Bed Nights of service.
  • 36,200 meals to residents.
  • 5,000 Self-Help Sessions conducted to guide residents with respect to their contract and progress.
  • 2,500 meetings with a Case Manager for guidance, support and caring.

The Valley Network Food Bank annually provides:

  • More than 130,000 Meals to Lower Naugatuck Valley residents
  • Food to over 3,200 Adults, Children and Seniors
  • 700 Families with the means for a Holiday Meal.

You can make a gift or volunteer by visiting the Spooner house page here: http://www.actspooner.org/contact.html

Thank you for your consideration, and best wishes this year for a Happy Thanksgiving.
