Resident Shoots At Burglars

A homeowner with a gun thwarted two burglars in Ansonia Sunday.

Police said a man on North Main Street woke up about 2:30 a.m. to hear his dog barking and his alarm beeping.

He got out of bed and grabbed his gun to check it out. He told police he then spotted an intruder in his house — also holding a weapon.

The suspect ran.

The resident then heard glass breaking somewhere else in the house, according to police.

He headed toward the noise and saw a second man standing outside a window.

The complaint said that he then shot at the suspects prior to them fleeing,” according to police.

No one was injured.

Police said the resident reported two cymbals from his drum set were stolen.

No suspects have been identified at this time,” police said. The scene was processed for evidence and the case will remain active.”
