Update: All Clear In Oxford

A Google map showing Oxford airport.

Update: At 8:31 a.m., Oxford Fire Department Chief Scott Pelletier sent a broadcast over emergency radio transmissions saying all Oxford units could end the search, as the plane in question had landed safely at Robertson Airport in Plainville.

State police confirmed the report in a Tweet:

Original post:

Emergency responders are searching for a plane that lost contact with air traffic controllers as it approached Oxford airport Friday morning.

As of 7:55 a.m., members of the Oxford fire department were checking the woods and streets around the airport in attempt to locate the aircraft. As of 8:24 a.m., nothing had been found, and crews from surrounding towns were searching, too.

A second, separate aircraft was reported to be in the air circling the airport trying to spot the missing plane.

The search started after the air traffic tower at the airport reported it had lost sight and communication with an approaching plane.

From the state police Twitter feed:

The aircraft was described in emergency radio transmissions as a Cirrus plane with a ballistic parachute.

An email seeking comment was sent to state police. This story will be updated when information becomes available.
