Shelton Fire Marshal James Tortora submitted the following summary of the Shelton Volunteer Fire Department’s calls from the last week.
SHELTON VOLUNTEER FIRE DEPARTMENT INCIDENT RESPONSES

On 08/28/17 at 11:57 pm the White Hills Co. #5, Echo Hose Co. #1 and the Huntington Co. #3 responded to a report of smoke in the building at the Mont’s Mart Service Station at #198 Leavenworth Road. There was no fire. A malfunction in an air handling unit caused the smoke. Two engines and a ladder truck responded.
On 08/29/17 at 12:00 pm the Echo Hose Co. #1 and the Pine Rock Co. #4 responded to fire alarm sounding at #193 Howe Avenue. There was no fire. Smoke from cooking caused the alarm. A ladder truck responded.
On 08/29/17 at 12:21 pm the Huntington Co. #3 and the Echo Hose Co. #1 responded to a report of a motor vehicle accident on Route 8 north near exit 11. No accident was found. A rescue truck responded.
On 08/29/17 at 2:58 pm the White Hills Co. #5, Echo Hose Co. #1, Pine Rock Co. #4 and the Huntington Co. #3 responded to the Housatonic River to assist the Seymour Fire Department with a vehicle in the water with occupants inside. Upon arrival of fire units all occupants were safely out of the vehicle. A rescue truck and a marine unit responded.
On 08/29/17 at 3:45 pm the Huntington Co. #3 and the Echo Hose Co. #1 responded to a fire alarm sounding at #49 Independence Drive. There was no fire. Steam from a shower caused the alarm. Two engines responded.
On 08/29/1 at 5:05 pm the Huntington Co. #3 and the White Hills Co. #5 responded to a residential fire alarm sounding at #391 Isinglass Road. There was no fire. The cause of the alarm was undetermined. Two engines and a ladder truck responded.
On 08/30/17 at 8:21 am the Huntington Co. #3, Echo Hose Co. #1 and the Pine Rock Co. #4 responded to a natural gas leak at #7 Acadia Lane Building #1. An engine, a rescue truck and a ladder truck responded.
On 08/30/17 at 9:10 am the Echo Hose Co. #1 and the Pine Rock Co. #4 responded to motor vehicle accident on River Road at Wallace Street. An engine and a rescue truck responded.
On 08/31/17 at 7:15 am the Echo Hose Co. #1 and the White Hills Co. #5 responded to a car fire in front of #64 Lakeview Avenue. Firefighters responded and extinguished a fire that destroyed a work van. Two engines responded.
On 08/31/17 at 730 am the Huntington Co. #3 responded to #461 Fisher Court in the Aspetuck Village Condo Complex for a carbon monoxide detector sounding. An engine and a utility truck responded.
On 08/31/17 at 11:34 am the Echo Hose Co. #1 and the Pine Rock Co. #4 responded to a fire alarm sounding at the market Place Complex #397 Bridgeport Avenue. There was no fire. Smoke from construction work caused the alarm. A ladder truck responded.
On 08/31/17 at 4:47 pm the Huntington Co. #3 and the Echo Hose Co. #1 responded to a motor vehicle accident on Route 8 north between exits 12 and 13. An engine and a rescue truck responded.
On 09/01/17 at 5:50 am the Echo Hose Co. #1 and the Pine Rock Co. #4 responded to a fire alarm sounding at the Market Place Complex #397 Bridgeport Avenue. There was no fire. A ladder truck responded.
On 09/01/17 at 7:56 am the Echo Hose Co. #1 and the Pine Rock Co. #4 responded to a fire alarm sounding at the market Place Complex #397 Bridgeport Avenue. There was no fire. A ladder truck responded.
On 09/01/17 at 9:44 am the Echo Hose Co. #1 and the Pine Rock Co. #4 responded to a report of smoke in the area of Bridgeport Avenue and Long Hill Cross Road. No fire or cause of the smoke was found. An engine responded.
On 09/01/17 at 12:32 pm the Huntington Co. #3 and the White Hills Co. #5 responded to a report of a gas odor at the Mohegan School at #47 Mohegan Road. A problem with a gas supply line was the cause. The supply was shut down until repairs are made. Two engines and a ladder truck responded.
On 09/01/17 at 5:50 pm the Huntington Co. #3, White Hills Co. #5 and the Echo Hose Co. #1 responded to a brush fire at #3 Armstrong Road. An engine responded.
On 09/01/17 at 7:57 pm the Pine Rock Co. #4 responded to assist EMS at #722 River Road. An engine responded.
On 09/01/17 at 9:06 pm the Huntington Co. #3, Echo Hose Co. #1 and the Pine Rock Co. #4 responded to a fire in a grill at the Duchess Restaurant #833 Bridgeport Avenue. The fire was contained to the grill. Two engines, a rescue truck and a ladder truck responded.
On 09/01/17 at 9:58 pm the Huntington Co. #3 responded to #23 Great Oak Road for an odor investigation. An engine responded.
Om 09/02/17 at 01:37 am the White Hills Co. #5 responded to #432 Walnut Tree Hill Road for a carbon monoxide detector sounding. An engine responded.
On 09/03/17 at 1:26 pm the Huntington Co. #3 and the White Hills Co. #5 responded to a residential fire alarm sounding at #25 Patricia Lane. There was no fire. An engine and a ladder truck responded.
On 09/03/17 at 7:24 pm the White Hills Co. #5 responded to a gasoline spill at #20 Rock Ridge Road. An engine responded.
