Shelton Fire Marshal James Tortora submitted the following summary of the Shelton Volunteer Fire Department’s calls from the last two weeks.

On 12/17/17 at 5:34 pm the Echo Hose Co. #1 responded to a public service call lockout in front of #49 Wooster Street. A rescue truck responded.

On 12/18/17 at 00:38 am the Huntington Co. #3, Echo Hose Co. #1 and White Hills Co. #5 responded to a motor vehicle accident at #2 Corporate Drive. An engine and a rescue truck responded.

On 12/18/17 at 5:02 am the White Hills Co. #5 responded to #48 Hilltop Drive for an activated carbon monoxide detector sounding. An engine responded.

On 12/18/17 at 6:04 pm the Huntington Co. #3, Echo Hose Co. #1 and Pine Rock Co. #4 responded to the Shoreline Animal Hospital at #895 Bridgeport Avenue for a fire alarm sounding. There was no fire. Dust from construction caused the alarm. An engine and a tower truck responded.

On 12/18/17 at 10:28 pm the Huntington Co. #3 and Echo Hose Co. #1 responded to #359 Aspetuck Trail for an electrical problem in the home. The problem was associated with a microwave oven. There was no fire. Three engines and the tower truck responded.

On 12/19/17 at 2:38 am the White Hills Co. #5 and Huntington Co. #3 responded to a motor vehicle accident on Leavenworth Road near Maple Avenue. An engine responded.

On 12/20/17 at 7:34 am the Echo Hose Co. #1 and White Hills Co. #5 responded to a fire alarm sounding at #1 Positive Place. There was no fire. An engine and responded.

On 12/20/17 at 9:48 am the Huntington Co. #3, Echo Hose Co. #1 and Pine Rock Co. #4 responded to an odor of natural gas in the building at the Mark Housing Complex at #7 Acadia Lane. Firefighters found a pilot light valve left on for a kitchen stove in one of the units caused the odor. Two engines and a ladder truck responded.

On 12/21/17 at 02:25 am the White Hills Co. #5 responded to the Town of Monroe for a mutual aid call for a structure fire at #125 Old Tannery Road. A ladder truck responded.

On 12/21/17 at 1:04 pm the Huntington Co. #3 and Echo Hose Co. #1 responded to a fire in a cigarette waste container in front of #702 Bridgeport Avenue. An engine responded.

On 12/22/17 at 6:38 pm the Echo Hose Co. #1 and White Hills Co. #5 responded to a fire alarm sounding at the Bridge Street Commons Housing Complex at #50 Bridge Street. There was no fire. The alarm was accidentally transmitted during work on the fire sprinkler system. An engine and a ladder truck responded.

On 12/23/17 at 5:02 am the Echo Hose Co. #1 and Huntington Co. #3 responded to assist EMS at #41 Summerfield Gardens. An engine and a rescue truck responded.

On 12/23/17 at 10:09 am the Echo Hose Co. #1 and Huntington Co. #3 responded to a motor vehicle accident on route 8 south bound between exits 13 and 12. Two engines responded.

On 12/23/17 at 2:04 pm the Huntington Co. #3 responded to #6 Peaceful Place for a carbon monoxide detector sounding. An engine responded.

On 12/23/17 at 5:08 pm the Pine Rock Co. #4 and Echo Hose Co. #1 responded to a fire alarm sounding at #44 Broc Terrace. There was no fire. Smoke from cooking caused the alarm. Two engines and a ladder truck responded.

On 12/23/17 at 6:49 pm the Echo Hose Co. #1 responded to a motor vehicle accident on Coram Avenue at Elm Street. An engine responded.

On 12/24/17 at 4:53 am the Huntington Co. #3 and Echo Hose Co. #1 responded to #3 Serene Drive for a carbon monoxide detector sounding. Two rescue trucks and a utility truck responded.

On 12/24/17 at 9:12 am the Huntington Co. #3 and White Hills Co. #5 responded to #24 Whipporwill Drive for a fire alarm sounding. There was no fire. Dust from construction caused the alarm. An engine responded.

On 12/24/17 at 9:38 am the Pine Rock Co. #4 and Echo Hose Co. #1 responded to a fire alarm sounding at #17 Sharon Court. There was no fire. Smoke from cooking caused the alarm. A ladder truck and a tower truck responded.

On 12/24/17 at 10:52 am the Echo Hose Co. #1 and White Hills Co. #5 responded to a fire alarm sounding at #100 Kings Highway. There was no fire. Smoke from cooking caused the alarm. An engine responded.

On 12/24/17 at 4:18 pm the Huntington Co. #3 and White Hills Co. #5 responded to an illegal open burn at #18 Sara Nor Drive. Two engines responded.

On 12/25/17 at 9:24 am the White Hills Co. #5 and Huntington Co. #3 responded to a motor vehicle accident on Willoughby Road near Soundview Avenue. An engine responded.

On 12/25/17 at 1:39 pm the Huntington Co. #3 and White Hills Co. #5 responded to #74 North Street for a fire alarm sounding. There was no fire. An engine responded.

On 12/25/17 at 7:11 pm the Huntington Co. #3 and Echo Hose Co. #1 responded to a motor vehicle accident on route 8 north bound near exit 13. An engine and a rescue truck responded.

On 12/26/17 at 10:17 am the Huntington Co. #3, White Hills Co. #5 and Echo Hose Co. #1 responded to #1 Pilgrim Lane for a chimney fire. two engines and a ladder truck responded.

On 12/26/17 at 7:16 pm the Echo Hose Co. #1 responded to the Birmingham on the River Condo’s at #145 Canal Street for a public service call, a problem with a gas stove. An engine responded.

On 12/27/17 at 6:35 am the Pine Rock Co. #4, Echo Hose Co. #1 and Huntington Co. #3 responded to smoke in the house at #5 Pochong Trail. There was no fire. a furnace backfire caused the smoke two engines and a ladder truck responded.

On 12/27/17 at 1:27 pm the Echo Hose Co. #1 responded to a public service call lockout at #384 Howe Avenue. An engine responded.

On 12/27/17 at 7:52 pm the Echo Hose Co. #1 and Huntington Co. #3 responded to a motor vehicle accident on Nells Rock Road at Falmouth Drive. An engine and a rescue truck responded.

On 12/28/17 at 8:12 am the Echo Hose Co. #1 and Pine Rock Co. #4 responded to a fire alarm sounding at the Da’Dadarrio Auto Body Shop at #409 Bridgeport Avenue. There was no fire. A unit responded.

On 12/28/17 at 9:06 am the Huntington Co. #3 and White Hills Co. #5 responded to a brush fire in the rear of #48 Cayer Circle. An engine responded.

On 12/28/17 at 9:49 am the White Hills Co. #5 and Huntington Co. #3 responded to #12 Henry Drive for smoke in the house. There was no fire. A fireplace flue that was not opened during use caused the smoke. Two engines responded.

On 12/28/17 at 10:26 am the Pine Rock Co. #4 and Echo Hose Co. #1 responded to a water problem at #31 Old Coram Road. An engine responded.

On 12/28/17 at 6:48 pm the White Hills Co. #5 and Huntington Co. #3 responded to a fire alarm sounding from #195 Birdseye Road. There was no fire. An engine responded.

On 12/28/17 at 9:40 pm the Pine Rock Co. #4 responded to a public service call at #69 Kyles Way. an engine responded.

On 12/29/17 at 6:21 am the Pine Rock Co. #4 and Echo Hose Co. #1 responded to a water problem at the Casa Nova Restaurant #833 River Road. An engine and a rescue truck responded.

On 12/29/17 at 11:47 am the Huntington Co. #3 and the Echo Hose Co. #1 responded to a fire alarm sounding at the Heather Ridge Condo’s on Trap Falls Road. There was no fire. An engine and a tower truck responded.

On 12/29/17 at 2:08 pm the Echo Hose Co. #1 responded to assist EMS at #132 Myrtle Street. A rescue truck responded.

On 12/29/17 at 5:31 pm the White Hills Co. #5 , Huntington Co. #3 and the Echo Hose Co. #1 responded to a chimney fire at #324 East Village Road. Two engines and a ladder truck responded.

On 12/29/17 at 8:31 pm the Echo Hose Co. #1 , Huntington Co. #3 and the White Hills Co. #5 responded to an odor of natural gas at the Shelton Lakes Health Care Center at #5 Lake Road. Two engines and a ladder truck responded.

On 12/29/17 at 9:54 pm the White Hills Co. #5 responded to a small fuel spill at #6 Martinka Drive. An engine responded.

On 12/30/17 at 11:38 am the Echo Hose Co. #1 and the Pine Rock Co. #4 responded to #10 Mountain View Drive for a fire alarm sounding. There was no fire. Two engines responded.

On 12/30/17 at 12:35 pm the Huntington Co. #3 and the White Hills Co. #5 responded to a motor vehicle accident on Mohegan Road near New Castle Drive. Two engines and a rescue truck responded.

On 12/30/17 at 5:21 pm the Huntington Co. #3 responded to #18 Doe Place for a carbon monoxide detector sounding. An engine responded.

On 12/30/17 at 9:14 pm the Huntington Co. #3 responded to #34 Dogwood Drive for a carbon monoxide detector sounding. An engine responded.

On 12/31/17 at 01:34 am the Huntington Co. #3 and White Hills Co. #5 responded to a motor vehicle accident on Booth Hill Road near Winfield Drive. An engine and a rescue truck responded.

On 12/31/17 at 6:09 am the Huntington Co. #3 and White Hills Co. #5 responded to an odor of natural gas at #235 Thompson Street. A problem with a propane supply to the home was the cause. Two engines responded.

On 12/31/17 at 8:10 pm the Huntington Co. #3 responded to a public service lockout at #98 far Mill Street. An engine responded.

On 12/31/17 at 8:39 pm the Pine Rock Co. #4 responded to #32 Wopowog Trail to assist EMS. An engine responded.

On 12/31/17 at 9:58 pm the White Hills Co. #5 responded to #12 Old Dairy Lane for a carbon monoxide detector sounding. An engine responded.

On 01/01/18 at 5:01 am the Echo Hose Co. #1 and the Pine Rock Co. #4 responded to #219 Howe Avenue for a fire alarm sounding. There was no fire. An engine and a rescue truck responded.

On 01/01/18 at Pine Rock Co. #4 and the Echo Hose Co. #1 responded to a fire alarm sounding at #3 Pequot Trail. There was no fire. Two engines responded.

On 01/01/18 at 1:25 pm the White Hills Co. #5 responded to a mutual aid assist to the Monroe Fire Department to assist at a house fire on Elm Street. A ladder truck responded.

On 01/01/18 at 1:46 pm the Huntington Co. #3 and Echo Hose Co. #1 responded to #6 Independence Drive for smoke investigation outside. Two engines responded.

On 01/01/18 at 5:02 pm the Echo Hose Co. #1 and the White Hills Co. #5 responded to a fire alarm sounding at #14 Mayflower Lane. There was no fire. Am engine and a ladder truck responded.

On 01/01/18 at 8:12 pm the Pine Rock Co. #4 responded to a public service pump out at #665 River Road. A frozen pipe burst in a condo unit causing the problem. An engine responded.
