Shelton High’s ‘Team Pink’ Honored For Raising $6,000 In Breast Cancer Fight

CONTRIBUTEDDr. Beth A. Smith, headmaster of Shelton High School, is pleased to announce that a group of six teachers and administrators were recently recognized at the Connecticut Association of Schools Celebration of Excellence held on Wednesday, Nov. 18, at the AquaTurf in Plantsville.

Shelton High School Team Pink, comprised of Student Council Advisor Jerry Kelley, National Honor Society co-advisors Lynn Coffin and Erik Martire, Housemaster John Skerritt and Headmaster Smith, received the CAS Recognition of Excellence in Education Award.

The award is given to school programs that have made a measurable impact on students, the school and the entire community.

SHS Team Pink coordinated school efforts in October to raise more than $6,000 for the Valley Goes Pink.

In addition, that evening, English Curriculum Leader Dana Jeanette-Kneen received the Ronald McDonald House Charity Local Hero Award.

For the past eight years, Ronald McDonald House Charities of CT and Western MA has honored 10 teachers for their hard work and commitment to shaping the futures of children from CT and Western MA.

Dr. Smith commented, Dana has shown a true commitment to her profession and to the latest initiatives at SHS. She is extremely deserving of this recognition.”
