Shelton Lawmakers Discuss Lowering Electric Bills

CONTRIBUTEDShelton State lawmakers hosted a workshop for constituents, Wednesday, Oct. 12 to discuss how to lower electric bills.

Senator Kevin Kelly (R‑21), Representative Ben McGorty (R‑122)and Representative Jason Perillo (R‑113) met with community members at the Shelton Senior Center.

While we have taken steps to combat the high electricity rates here in our great state, the reality is that many families feel the sting of high electricity bills, especially as we near the holiday season and colder weather,” said Senator Kevin Kelly. I am thrilled that we were able to team up with PURA to bring this forum to the Shelton community.”

Connecticut continues to have one of the highest state electricity profiles across the entire country; ranking third to last –behind only Hawaii and Alaska.

I think this was a great opportunity for members of the community to discuss ways in which they can lower their electric rates, we had a great turnout,” said Representative McGorty.

As colder temperatures approach and energy rates remain high I think it is important for our constituents to learn ways in which to lower their electric bills, the continued high energy rates impact families of all sizes,” said Representatives Jason Perillo.
