Shelton Man Dies In New York Hang Gliding Crash

A Shelton man died Sunday (May 17) after a hang gliding accident in New York.

Scott Trueblood, 44, was hang gliding near State Route 52 in the town of Wawarsing when he struck a mountainside, according to a prepared statement from New York State Police.

The accident occurred about 6:08 p.m., police said. Trueblood was pronounced dead at the scene.

State police said he was a newly licensed pilot with a flight school in nearby Ellenville, N.Y..

The cause of the accident is being investigated, state police said. 

A tribute page was posted on Facebook in Trueblood’s honor.
