UPDATE: Shelton Man Dies After Motorcycle Crash

UPDATE: Shelton police released a statement 11:30 a.m. Monday Sept. 18 saying the motorcycle rider injured in this crash has since died.

Robert Freiler, age 53, of Shelton passed away from the injuries suffered from a motor vehicle accident. The Shelton Police Department Traffic Division is still investigation
the accident.

A Shelton man was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries after an accident Thursday (Sept. 14).

In a prepared statement by Shelton Police Detective Chris Nugent, about 7:15 p.m. police responded to the area of Howe Avenue and Grove Street for a report of a serious motor vehicle accident involving a motorcycle and a motor vehicle.

EMS, Shelton Fire Department, and Shelton Police Department responded to the scene,” Nugent said. The operator of the motorcycle, Robert Freiler, age 53 of Shelton, was transported to Bridgeport Hospital with life threatening injuries.”

Nugent said the Shelton Police Department Accident Reconstruction is currently investigating this accident, asking anyone who witnessed the accident to contact the Shelton Police Department Traffic Division.

Police noted the crash was the second serious accident involving a motorcycle within a half-mile of an accident earlier on Thursday in the area of 122 River Road.
