Shelton police Wednesday arrested two men in connection with a December robbery at the Buck Stop convenience store on Shelton Avenue.
Two men dressed in black robbed the store at knifepoint just before 11 p.m. Dec. 18. It was the second robbery of the store in 10 days, but police said the two incidents were unrelated and later arrested two Stratford men in connection with the first heist.
After developing leads in the second robbery, detectives executed search warrants in Shelton and Derby Wednesday, resulting in the arrests of Jonathan Russell, 19, of 6 Richard Boulevard, in Shelton, and Nicholos Cowell, 19, of 204 Derby Ave. in Derby.

Both were charged with first-degree robbery and fourth-degree larceny. Police said neither suspect was able to post the $250,000 bond set by a judge on the charges, so both were held for arraignment at Superior Court in Derby Thursday (Feb. 2).
In addition to the robbery charges, Russell was the subject of two probation violation warrants, with bonds totaling $35,000 on those charges.
Police also said that during the investigation detectives located several stolen items from motor vehicles, garages, and sheds. Police said more arrests are expected and urged residents to lock their cars and close their garage doors at night.
Anyone with information about thefts is asked to call the Shelton police at 203-924-1544.
