Shelton police are looking for a suspect in a home invasion on Howe Avenue Monday afternoon.

Police said a tall Hispanic man “pistol whipped” a resident at the home Monday while he was trying to rob the man.

The incident happened at about 12:15 p.m., according to police.

The suspect kicked in the door and demanded the residents give him their valuables. There were four people in the apartment — including one infant, according to Shelton Police Detective Ben Trabka.

A brief struggle ensued and the suspect pistol-whipped one of the residents, according to Shelton police.

The suspect then fled and left the gun behind.

He didn’t get away with any valuables, according to Trabka.

The victim of the assault was transported to Griffin Hospital, treated and then later released.

Shelton police said they are looking for a Hispanic male, about 6 feet tall, of medium build with a mustache, beard and tattoo on his neck.

Shelton police ask that anyone with information about the break-in or suspect can call police at 203-924-1544. All calls will be kept confidential.
