Shelton Robotics Team To Defend New England Title

This upcoming weekend, Feb. 28 and March 1, the Shelton High School Robotics team, FRC Team #230 The Gaelhawks, will be competing at the New England District Waterbury Competition, at Wilby High School, Bucks Hill Road, Waterbury.

The event is free and open to the general public. It promises to be a fun-filled family event. Come for an hour or stay all day. Match times are scheduled every 40 minutes from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. both Saturday and Sunday.

We hope that you can take some time this weekend to see our team compete alongside other quality teams from Connecticut, Rhode Island and New Jersey as we work to qualify for the New England District Championship in Worcester, MA to defend our current reigning New England District Championship status and hopefully the FRC World Championship in St. Louis.

We are very excited to be competing so close to home so that our friends and family will have the opportunity to see our team in action. We have built an amazing robot this year and are excited to see how well it stacks up to the competition.

A description of this year’s game – RECYCLE RUSH:

RECYCLE RUSH is a recycling-themed game played by two Alliances of three robots each. Robots score points by stacking totes on scoring platforms, capping those stacks with recycling containers, and properly disposing of pool noodles, representing litter. In keeping with the recycling theme of the game, all game pieces used are reusable or recyclable by teams in their home locations or by FIRST at the end of the season.

It is a very exciting competition to watch and this year’s Shelton Robot: Talon VXI is a fantastic engineering marvel that our students and mentors are extremely proud of.

We really look forward to seeing you at one of our upcoming events!
