Storm Update And The Most-Read Stories Of The Week

As of 7 a.m. Saturday 41 percent of Eversource customers in Oxford were without power. More trucks are set to arrive today to clear trees and downed wires from Tuesday evening’s storm, Oxford First Selectman George Temple said in a Code Red” robocall Friday.

Oxford was hit with a tornado during the storm, the National Weather Service said.

The majority of the town should be online by 11:59 p.m. Saturday, according to the Eversource website.

The Oxford First Selectman said the Quaker Farms School at 30 Great Oak Road will be open Saturday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. as a charging/bathing” center.

Three percent of Seymour and 5 percent of Beacon Falls was still without power Saturday morning. Eversource crews are in both towns.

It’s important to keep in mind what the utility company repairs and what the private home owner is responsible for. In some cases, homeowners will have to call a private electrician to make repairs.
