Students Hang Peace Tags At Irving Elementary In Derby

Students and faculty at the Irving School in Derby created Peace Tags” Friday based on Yoko Ono’s Peace Wishing Tree to celebrate International Day of Peace.

Each tag had a picture on one side depicting the artist’s concept of peace with a written related statement on the reverse side. The idea of peace for the tag could be in the world, the U.S., Connecticut, Derby, at school, home or within themselves.

Students stopped on their way into school to tie the tags on the trees. Additional tags and crayons were left inviting any passerby to create their own tag to hang on the tree.
