Telephone Kidnapping Scam Hits Seymour

Be careful answering your phone, people.

A few weeks after Ansonia police put out an alert about a phone scam, Seymour police are reporting something similar in their town.

In Ansonia, some horribly dishonest person called a resident claiming the resident’s relative had been kidnapped. A ransom demand was made.

Seymour police are investigating the same type of incident that took place today in Seymour,” according to a Friday post on the Seymour PD’s Facebook page.

Please do not provide the callers with any information and DO NOT wire any ransom demands,”

Notify the PD immediately if you receive one of these calls 203 – 881-7601.
