If so, the Valley deserves it! Take a gander at all the wonderful stuff happening locally Saturday and Sunday.

SATURDAY

Griffin Hospital 5K Walk-Run (9 a.m., Derby): Participants are raising money for Griffin Hospital’s Campaign for Breast Wellness. The long-term goal — $1 million.

From the Facebook page: “The Campaign for Breast Wellness at Griffin Hospital is a grassroots initiative to raise 1 million dollars to develop a comprehensive breast wellness and cancer prevention and treatment center that will offer early detection services, renowned medical expertise, and state-of-the-art technology all in one very special place.”

Blessing of the Animals (10 a.m. – 2 p.m., Shelton): St. Paul’s Episcopal Church invites pet owners, animal lovers, and furry friends to the 14th annual Blessing of the Animals with the Rev. Janet Waggoner. Complimentary treats will be provided for all dogs and cats. All members of the family and their friends are more than welcome as well. FOOTBALL!

The rain moved lots o’ games around. Here’s the rundown as of 3 p.m. Friday (double check everything with the CIAC Twitter’s feed).

Derby will upset Naugatuck, at 2 p.m. in Derby.

Oxford will improve to 3-0 by defeating Statford at Oxford High School at 1 p.m.

Seymour will upset Torrington at 6 p.m. in Seymour.

SUNDAY

Wheeling and Able (7 a.m., Shelton): At the Shelton Riverwalk, $20 registration fee. From the web: “Wheeling and Able… Shelton Riverwalk Wheel/Walk for Fitness is a wheel/walk to promote routine physical activity for people of all ages and abilities with the proceeds to benefit the Connecticut Chapter of the National Spinal Cord Injury Association.”

Walk A Mile In Her Shoes (11 a.m., Seymour): Men will wear high heel shoes and walk along Route 67 in Seymour to raise money for breast cancer research. Click here for more information.
