Traffic Stop Leads To Marijuana Charges

Police arrested a 34-year-old Ansonia man April 10 after allegedly finding marijuana on him after a traffic stop.

Police pulled over Sheldon Hayley at about 6 p.m. on Division Street and allegedly saw marijuana in a clear bag sitting on Hayley’s lap.

Police searched the car and said they found 2.6 grams of marijuana inside and $919 in cash.

Hayley is charged with possession of marijuana, possession of marijuana with intent to sell and possession of marijuana within 1,500 feet of a daycare (KinderCare is at 219 Division St.)

A passenger in the vehicle, Charles Silva, 25, of New Haven, was arrested on an outstanding warrant from the office of probation.
