Two Injured In Seymour Motorcycle Crash

Two people on a motorcycle were badly injured in an accident Sunday on Squantuck Road (Route 188).

A motorcycle — driven by a man with a woman riding on the back, neither identified by police — was heading northeast on Squantuck when a Cadillac driven by a 22-year-old man driving the opposite direction turned left in front of the path of the motorcycle.

The driver was turning onto Hull Road, police said.

The two people on the motorcycle were thrown about 50 feet. Police said they were taken to the Hospital of Saint Raphael’s trauma center.

The woman’s brother, who would not give his name, stopped by the Seymour Police Department Monday morning looking for more details from the crash.

He spoke briefly with the Valley Indy.

He said his sister suffered broken bones, including three vertebrae and a rib.

The motorcycle’s driver suffered broken bones, including several ribs, the brother said.

The man said both people on the motorcycle were wearing helmets at the time of the accident. They live in Seymour, he said.

The driver of the car, who was also not identified by police, was taken to St. Vincent Hospital. He was treated and released for minor injuries.

The accident happened at 3:39 pm.

Squantuck Road was closed for several hours Sunday as police investigated, but has since been reopened.
