The Great Give, a giant fundraiser for just about every nonprofit in the area, is May 2 and May 3.
The mega fundraiser is organized by The Community Foundation For Greater New Haven and The Valley Community Foundation.
The Valley Indy is participating in two ways:
1. The Valley Indy Great Give Webcast
We’re hosting a marathon video webcast on our Facebook page featuring more than a dozen LIVE interviews with Valley nonprofit leaders.
You’ll learn what they do, what they need and how you can help.

The videos will be recorded in 2‑hour blocks, then posted under ‘Extra, Extra’ on ValleyIndy.org. But remember, you can watch them live on our Facebook page.
We’re asking people to use the link above to donate $100 to The Valley Indy during The Great Give from 8 a.m. Tuesday (May 2) until 8 p.m. Wednesday (May 3).
We want to be here in 2018. Our goal is to raise $15,000 in 36 hours.
In addition to qualifying for Great Give “prize” money, we’re setting up some “Valley Indy Challenges.”

Valley Indy Challenge No. 1
Anyone who schedules a $100 donation prior to The Great Give’s official launch has a chance to win a limited edition Valley Independent Sentinel coffee mug!
If you’re interested, go to Donate.ValleyIndy.org prior to 8 a.m. Tuesday May 2 and donate $100.
Seymour First Selectman Kurt Miller will choose a name out of a hat during the 9 a.m. hour during our Facebook Live broadcast.

Valley Indy Challenge No. 2
If we can raise $300 between 12 p.m. and 1 p.m. on Tuesday, May 2, we’ll take the names of those donors, put them in a random drawing, and the winner will receive a limited edition Valley Independent Sentinel coffee mug — AND an autographed copy of the Valley Community Foundation magazine Legacy Matters, featuring the Valley Indy reporters on the cover.
The resale value must be uuuge!
At the same time, the foundations are offering a lunch hour “prize:” $500 will be awarded to the organization with the most gifts from individual donors between noon and 1 p.m.

Valley Indy Challenge No. 3
Jason Carlucci of The Dew Drop Inn is scheduled to stop by from 12 p.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 3.
If we can raise $500 in donations between 11 a.m. and 12:15 p.m., we will give Mr. Carlucci permission to share an embarrassing Valley Indy-related story from back in the day.
That’s how bad we want to continue serving the Valley in 2018!
Valley Indy Challenge No. 4
On 7 p.m. Wednesday we’ll host a Valley Indy news quiz! Details to follow. The prize — you guessed it, a Valley Independent Sentinel coffee mug!
