Catherine Esposito

Catherine Esposito, 94, peacefully entered into eternal rest on September 8, 2017, at Griffin Hospital, with her loving and devoted family by her side. She was the beloved wife of the late Salvatore A. Esposito.

Catherine was born in Ansonia on February 4, 1923, daughter of the late Matteo and Cornelia Potenza Casso. A resident of Ansonia for most of her life, she was employed as a lunch aide at Prendergast School in Ansonia for many years. Catherine was a devout communicant of the Church of the Assumption in Ansonia, where she sang in the choir. Extremely devoted to her Catholic faith, each morning she would watch Mass on television. She was a member of the Ansonia and Derby Senior Centers and Central Subalpi Club in Ansonia. Catherine enjoyed playing bingo, crocheting, search-a-word puzzles and was an avid fan of the NY Yankees.

She leaves to cherish her memory, daughters, Linda C. Czajkowski of Ansonia and Christine M. Reyher of Derby, cherished grandchildren, Allison Lia (Adelmo) of Derby, Joseph Czajkowski (Amanda) of Ansonia, Eric Carey (Rose) of Seymour, Matthew Czajkowski (Juan) of Chelsea, NY and Scott Aconfora (Lea D’Agostino) of Monroe, great-grandchildren, Victoria, Adelmo, Cheseray, Makayla, Joey and T.J., best friend, Margaret Macciocca of Ansonia and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by sons-in-law, Joseph Czajkowski and Mark Reyher, brothers, Michael and Joseph Casso and sisters, Jennie Vicidomino and Theresa DiMauro.

Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday September 13, 2017, from 4:00 to 7:00 pm in the chapel of the SPINELLI-RICCIUTI/BEDNAR-OSIECKI FUNERAL HOME, 62 Beaver Street in Ansonia. On Thursday, her funeral will begin at 9:15 am from the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am at the Church of the Assumption in Ansonia. Interment will immediately follow in Mt. St. Peter Cemetery in Derby. Contributions in Catherine’s memory may be made to the Office of Radio & Television (TV Mass), through the funeral home.
