Charles J. Fasciano Sr., 89

Charles J. Fasciano Sr., 89, of Ansonia, peacefully entered into eternal rest on January 16, 2012, at Griffin Hospital. He was the beloved husband of Zena Ragaini Fasciano.

Mr. Fasciano was born in Caltanissetta, Sicily, Italy on July 31, 1922, son of the late Michele and Biagia LoPiano Fasciano. At the age of eight, he and his family emigrated from Italy to Ansonia. A proud veteran, he honorably served in the European Theatre during WW II in the U.S. Air Corp. In 1953, he graduated from Quinnipiac College in Hamden, where he earned his degree in accounting. This was one of Quinnipiac’s first graduating classes. He was employed by the U.S. Department of Defense as a cost price analyst until his retirement. Charlie was a communicant of Holy Rosary Church in Ansonia and a member of its Catholic Men’s Club. He was a former member of the Board of Directors at VARCA in Derby, an active alumnus at Quinnipiac College, a member of the V.F.W. in Ansonia, American Legion in Derby, member of the former St. Michael’s Men’s Club in Ansonia and an active member of the Ansonia Senior Center, where he played cards each afternoon. He was also an avid bowler and golfer.

In addition to his wife Zena, he is survived by two loving sons, Charles J. Fasciano (Anne-Christine) of Tulsa, OK and David P. Fasciano of Ansonia, a loving daughter, Barbara J. Hart (Bill) of Ansonia, five cherished grandchildren, William C. Hart (Theresa) of Astoria, NY, Ryan M. Hart of Ansonia, Christina M. Fasciano of Tulsa, OK, Anthony C. Fasciano of Borger, TX, Courtney L. Hart of Ansonia, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brothers, Joseph, Michael, Louis, Salvatore, Angelo, Vincent, and John Fasciano and a sister, Margaret Donofrio.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral on Saturday January 21, 2012, at 9:00 am (Please Meet Directly) at Holy Rosary Church in Ansonia for a Mass of Christian Burial. Entombment with military honors will follow in Mt. St. Peter Garden Mausoleum in Derby. Visiting hours will be held on FRIDAY from 4-8 pm in the chapel of the SPINELLI-RICCIUTI/BEDNAR-OSIECKI FUNERAL HOME, 62 Beaver Street in Ansonia.
