Geraldine “Jeri” (Cintorino) Swinik, age 75, of Seymour, the beloved wife of 54 years to Joseph E. Swinik, entered into eternal rest peacefully on Friday, April 13, 2018 at Gaylord Hospital of Wallingford. She was born in Derby, on June 4, 1942, daughter of the late Peter J. and Emily (Tyburski) Cintorino.
Jeri grew up in Shelton and graduated from Shelton High School, Class of 1960. She met and married her husband Joseph and they settled and raised their family in Seymour. Jeri currently was employed with The John M. Glover Agency within the insurance department. She was a long time member and past president of the Seymour-Oxford Rotary Club. Jeri ran the daily operations and served as manager of The Strand Theater which was a job she held very close to her heart. Jeri was an avid bowler and enjoyed her trips to the casino. She was a great cook, who loved to cook for her family and friends. Jeri took great pride in her flower gardens , she especially loved her sunflowers. Jeri was an outgoing, very people friendly person she made friends just about anywhere she went. Family was her life, especially her four grandchildren who she loved to spend time with. She will be sadly missed by all but will remain forever in our hearts.
In addition to her beloved husband, Joseph, her loving family includes her two devoted daughters Terri (Fred) Ames and Susan (John )Duke all of Seymour, a caring brother Peter (Mary) Cintorino of Idaho, a loving sister Shirley (Bill ) Walker of Southbury, four cherished grandchildren Fred, Autumn, Ayden and Natasha and several nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the staff at Griffin Hospital, the ICU staff and her favorite very loving and caring nurse Ashley D’Agostino. They would also like to thank the staff at Gaylord Hospital especially her compassionate nurses Rachael Banbeault and Jamie Dobkins for the exceptional care that she received.
A Memorial Service in Celebration of Jeri’s Life will be held on Wednesday, April 18, 2018 at 11:00 am in the Chapel of the Miller-Ward Funeral Home, 260 Bank St. (RT 67, across from Klarides Village) Seymour. Friends and relatives may call at the funeral home on Wednesday morning from 9:00 am until the beginning of the service at 11:00 am. Interment will take place in the family plot at Mountain Meadows Cemetery, Seymour.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts in Jeri’s memory may be made to the Emil Senger Post No. 10 American Legion of Seymour through the funeral home.
