Jacob Lypen

Jacob Lypen, age 90, beloved husband of Barbara Kot Lypen of Ansonia, died peacefully on November 18, 2017 at Coachman Square, Woodbridge.
Born in Zdynia, Poland on January 22, 1927, he was the son of the late Andrew and Maria Spiak Lypen.
Mr. Lypen immigrated to the U.S. in 1949 and has since been a resident of Ansonia and devout member of Sts. Peter and Paul Ukrainian Catholic Church, where he belonged to the Holy Name Society. He worked as a machinist for the B.F. Goodrich Co., Sponge Rubber Products and the American Brass Co. where he retired in 1992. Together with his wife Barbara, they enjoyed traveling and spending time with family and friends. A generous and skilled handyman, he enjoyed working outdoors especially gardening and on home improvement projects. He was always quick to offer a helping hand for his friends, neighbors, and others in need.
In addition to his beloved wife of 53 years, he is survived by his sister, Melania Lypen of Ansonia; several nieces and nephews, Maria (Michael) Telep of Ansonia, Michael Pawlyk of Ansonia, Mary (Adam) Faass of Middletown, Andrew (Beata) Lypen of Orange, Steven Durkot of CA, Joanna (William) Platosz of Oxford, Bohdan (Connie) Kot of NC and John (May Grace) Kot of HI; several great nieces and nephews; a brother-in-law, Michael Pawlyk of Ansonia, and sister-in-law, Luba Lypen. Mr. Lypen was predeceased by sisters, Anna Lypen, Marta (Michael) Durkot, Helen Pawlyk, and a brother, Peter Lypen.
Funeral services will take place on Saturday, November 25, 2017 at 9:00 AM from the Wakelee Memorial Funeral Home, 167 Wakelee Avenue, Ansonia. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM in Sts. Peter and Paul Church, 105 Clifton Avenue, Ansonia. Interment will follow in Sts. Peter and Paul Cemetery, Derby. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Friday, November 24, 2017, from 4:00 to 7:00 PM, Panakhida at 6:30 PM.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Sts. Peter and Paul Stained Glass Window Fund.
