Luba Marciniak Soldra, 63, a proud lifelong resident of the Ansonia community, unexpectedly entered into eternal rest on February 4, 2012. She was the beloved wife of John D. Soldra Sr.
Mrs. Soldra was born in Hanover, Germany on August 27, 1948, loving daughter of Marija Marciniak of Ansonia and the late Stefan Marciniak. She was employed as an English Teacher and Department Head at Ansonia High School for 38 years until her retirement in 2009. She also served as Athletic Director at Ansonia High School for many years. Currently, she was a substitute in the Derby Public School system and a Senior Tax Preparer for H & R Block in Ansonia. Luba was a longtime follower and avid fan of all Ansonia sports and was the former President of Ansonia Pop Warner.
In addition to her husband and mother, she is survived by three sons, John D. Soldra Jr. (Emanuela) of Ansonia, Keith R. Soldra (Gina) of Orange, and Graig S. Soldra (Kelly) of Ansonia, two daughters, Sharon M. Soldra (Demetris Ford) of Ansonia and Lisa A. Soldra (Alfonso Smith) of Seymour, three brothers, Stephen Marciniak (Betty) and John Marciniak (Donna) of Seymour, and Paul Marciniak (Carol) of Oxford, a sister, Nancy Threlfall (Glen) of Morris, five cherished grandchildren, Tabitha Soldra, Sophia Soldra, Andrew Soldra, Ari-anna Smith, and Makenzie Soldra, brothers and sisters in law, Walter and Marge Soldra of Ansonia and Richard and Marie Batza of Oxford and several nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral on Thursday February 9, 2012, at 9:30 am (PLEASE MEET DIRECTLY) at the Church of the Assumption, 61 North Cliff Street in Ansonia, for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery in Ansonia. Visiting hours will be held on WEDNESDAY from 4-8 pm in the chapel of the SPINELLI-RICCIUTI/BEDNAR-OSIECKI FUNERAL HOME, 62 Beaver Street in Ansonia. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to a scholarship being formed in Luba’s memory to an Ansonia High School student athlete pursuing a college degree in English. Please make checks payable to Keith Soldra and remit to the funeral home. To send an online condolence, please visit http://www.spinellifuneralhome.com.
