        <p>Saying he is &#8220;not at all happy with the initial investigation,&#8221; Ansonia Police Chief Kevin Hale said his department has relaunched a probe into a hit-and-run crash that left an Ansonia teenager seriously injured last year.</p>

	<p>The bill, &#8220;An Act Concerning Desecration of War or Veterans&#8217; Memorials,&#8221; was proposed after a rash of thefts in the lower Naugatuck Valley of bronze plaques from war memorials. </p>

        <p><img class="imgcaption" src="/uploads/photos/seymoursoccer.jpg" width="200" height="264" title="" alt="" />Seymour Soccer Association is hosting a Wine &amp; Beer Tasting benefit for local youth soccer on Saturday, May 19 from 7 to 10 p.m. at Villa Bianca located at 312 Roosevelt Drive, Rt. 34 in Seymour.</p>

	<p>&#8220;Get Your Kicks&#8221; Tasting will offer samples of wine and beer and will draw for &#8220;you-gotta-have-them&#8221; door and raffle prizes.</p>

	<p>Tickets are $35 in advance and $40 at the door.</p>

	<p>Attendees will enjoy live entertainment, including acoustic tunes by Sammy Blanchette. Raffle prizes will include a 40&#8221; <span class="caps">LCD</span> TV, a Kindle Fire, a Boston Red Sox donated, autographed color action shot of catcher Jarrod Saltalamacchia accompanied by a pair of game tickets to a future Sox game at historic Fenway Park, and a week of soccer camp.</p>

	<p>Seymour residents are scheduled to vote Thursday (May 17) on whether to spend $52 million to run the town and school districts next year.</p>

        <p>Oxford First Selectman George Temple was surprised Tuesday night.</p>

	<p>Not that the town&#8217;s proposed 2012-2013 budgets passed at referendum, mind you.</p>

	<p>&#8220;You know what surprised me? People could get here,&#8221; he quipped after voters overwhelmingly approved $734,000 to improve what he called the &#8220;very poor condition&#8221; of town roads, one of three questions asked on Tuesday&#8217;s ballot. </p>

	<p>Light applause broke out from the officials gathered at the Quaker Farms School gymnasium after election moderator Augie Palmer, a former first selectman, announced that all three questions on Tuesday&#8217;s referendum passed.</p>

        <p>The Shelton Board of Aldermen on Tuesday approved a $115.5 million budget that sets the city&#8217;s tax rate at 22.4 mills in 2012-2013.</p>

	<p>That means a homeowner with property assessed at $250,000 will see a tax bill of $5,600.</p>

	<p>Mayor Mark Lauretti predicted most homeowners would see lower tax bills than last year, as a result of property revaluation. </p>
