Saying he is “not at all happy with the initial investigation,” Ansonia Police Chief Kevin Hale said his department has relaunched a probe into a hit-and-run crash that left an Ansonia teenager seriously injured last year.

The development comes after the woman’s mother took to social media last month to ask why police hadn’t done more to look into the case.

Former First Selectman Robert Koskelowski said the town’s finance board erred by creating a budget that assumes the town’s public works director will lose his job.

Seymour residents are scheduled to vote Thursday (May 17) on whether to spend $52 million to run the town and school districts next year.

Voters rejected the original spending plan when it went out to referendum May 3.

Oxford First Selectman George Temple was surprised Tuesday night.

Not that the town’s proposed 2012-2013 budgets passed at referendum, mind you.

“You know what surprised me? People could get here,” he quipped after voters overwhelmingly approved $734,000 to improve what he called the “very poor condition” of town roads, one of three questions asked on Tuesday’s ballot.

Light applause broke out from the officials gathered at the Quaker Farms School gymnasium after election moderator Augie Palmer, a former first selectman, announced that all three questions on Tuesday’s referendum passed.

The Shelton Board of Aldermen on Tuesday approved a $115.5 million budget that sets the city’s tax rate at 22.4 mills in 2012-2013.

That means a homeowner with property assessed at $250,000 will see a tax bill of $5,600.

Mayor Mark Lauretti predicted most homeowners would see lower tax bills than last year, as a result of property revaluation.
