Ansonia Police Charge Two Teens In Stabbing, Robbery

Ansonia police charged two teens Saturday with stabbing a man behind a North Main Street business.

Officers were dispatched about 8:30 p.m. May 9 to the area of Fourth and North Main streets on a report of an assault, according to a prepared statement from Ansonia Police Lt. Andrew Cota.

When they got there, they found a 45-year-old Ansonia man lying behind the Daily Mart on North Main Street suffering from obvious signs that he had been assaulted” — facial wounds and cuts, as well as puncture wounds to his torso and arms.

The male stated that he had been sitting in Liberty Park when he was attacked by a group of young males after he refused to give them money,” Cota’s statement said.

The man told police he was robbed of his cell phone and money during the attack.

The man identified two of the people who attacked him before being taken to Griffin Hospital to be treated.

His injuries were not life-threatening, Cota said.

Police said they have arrested two males in the case, one 17 years old and another 14 years old, both of whom live in Ansonia.

Both were charged with first-degree robbery, second-degree larceny, and first-degree assault.

Police did not identify the suspects because their cases are being handled in the juvenile court system.
