Burglaries In Oxford, ‘Smash And Grab’ In Seymour

Police in Oxford are asking the public’s help to solve two burglary cases.

Residential Burglary

In a prepared statement, state police said a person broke into a house on Jacks Hill Road Friday (June 24), possibly between 10 and 11 a.m., and stole money. Police didn’t say how much was stolen.

State police released the photo above from a surveillance camera.

Police asked anyone who could identify the man in the picture or with other information to call Officer Gugliotti at the Oxford Resident Trooper’s Office, 203 – 888-4353.

Police said all calls will remain confidential.

Convenience Store Burglary Attempt

In the second case, state police said officers were sent to respond to a burglary alarm at the Double R Mobil convenience store at 1 Oxford Road about 1:30 a.m. Saturday (June 25).

Cops found damage consistent with the use of a prying-type tool” to the business’ drive-thru window. Officers searched the area but did not find any suspects.

Police release a surveillance photo of the suspect.

State police said the man appeared to have walked from the Seymour town line across Mountain Road toward the convenience store.

Police asked anyone who could identify the man in the picture or with other information to call Officer Gugliotti at the Oxford Resident Trooper’s Office, 203 – 888-4353.

In addition to the crimes in Oxford, the property manager at Tri-Town Plaza in Seymour posted photos on social media showing a smash and grab” burglary at a hair salon in the shopping center.

The pictures, showing a shattered glass door, were posted Monday morning.
