Shelton Police Still Want To Talk To Motorist

Shelton police are asking the public for help in identifying the driver of a second vehicle they believe was present during a downtown hit and run accident Aug. 14.

Police released a photo Friday (Aug. 28) and also conducted a checkpoint near the scene of the accident, at Howe Avenue and Bridge Street, to talk with motorists who might have witnessed the accident.

Earlier this month cops had released a photo of another vehicle that they believe was also present at the crash, which occurred Aug. 14 about 10 p.m.

The accident injured a 49-year-old cyclist from Milford.

The vehicle that hit the cyclist fled over the Derby-Shelton bridge after the crash, police said.

The bicyclist, who has not been identified by police, is still in the hospital, police said in a prepared statement.

Police asked anyone with information about the accident to contact the department’s Traffic Division at (203) 924‑1544 Ext. 4417.
