Valley Indy Plans Marathon Livestream During The Great Give

The Great Give, an online fundraiser for hundreds of organizations in the Valley and beyond, starts 8 a.m. Tuesday (May 1) and ends 8 p.m. Wednesday (May 2).

We use The Great Give as our annual reader drive. This year our goal is to raise $10,000 during The Great Give.

To do that, we are encouraging individual donations of $100. A quick URL — Donate.ValleyIndy.org.

In the past year the two employees at The Valley Indy posted more than 1,000 stories, organized and moderated two mayoral debates, live-streamed municipal meetings, ran countless letters to the editor, researched and published three investigative stories, produced more than 50 podcast episodes, received a Silver Medal community service award from the Greater Valley Chamber of Commerce, and fought for your right to know at several Freedom of Information hearings.

The cost to you — $0.00.

But we can’t ask for your help without doing something in return.

So Ethan Fry and I are planning another marathon Great Give Webcast” from our office on Main Street in Ansonia.

We’re planning to conduct live interviews on the web from our office in Ansonia with other nonprofit groups during The Great Give so you can learn who they are, what they do, and how you can help (by donating money).

Go to our Facebook page or ValleyIndy.org during The Great Give to watch the interviews.

We’ll interview people who quietly work every day to make the Valley a better place to live.

People who save lives.

People who improve the lives of our youth.

People who provide shelter for families in need.

People who put their lives on the line to keep us safe.

And a guy from the Howard Stern Show. Oh, and Ethan will sample suicide wings” from the Dew Drop Inn — for a price.
