A Tree Falls In Derby

A nor’easter rambled through the lower Naugatuck Valley overnight Thursday, causing a smattering of power failures and snapping tree branches all over the place.

There were no injuries reported.

A large tree in front of New Life Church in Derby snapped in half at 300 Elizabeth Ave. and fell onto a neighboring home.

The home’s porch took the brunt of the damage.

The tree took a bunch of wires down with it.

Ian Schroeder sent along some photos showing the damage.

A few of the pics can be seen in the gallery above.

At some point Wednesday night, 44,000 people in New England were without power, according to AccuWeather.com.

About 100 people lost electricity in Shelton Wednesday night, according to the Shelton Herald.

This weekend’s supposed to be nice, according to the National Weather Service, so get off the couch and go to one the things listed on our things to do list.
