Ansonia Burglary Suspect Charged With More Hilltop Break-Ins

An Ansonia man already suspected in several hilltop burglaries in Ansonia and Derby was charged Tuesday with five more break-ins.

Davon Miller, 21, of Hodge Avenue, faces five counts of first-degree burglary, two counts each of fifth-degree larceny and sixth-degree larceny, and a single count of fourth-degree larceny in the new cases.

Miller was served with arrest warrants in the cases at Superior Court in Milford, where he was due Tuesday to appear in connection with burglaries with which he was charged in September.

Miller has been in custody since his Sept. 2 arrest on charges of breaking into homes in Derby, after which Ansonia cops connected him to other Hilltop break-ins.

Miller is accused of breaking into houses on Reservoir Drive, Farrell Drive, Birchwood Drive, and Highland Avenue between Aug. 6 and Aug. 21.

During the course of these burglaries four laptops, three tablets, a cell phone, GPS unit and loose change were stolen,” Ansonia Police Lt. Andrew Cota said in the statement. Some items were recovered. At this time these cases are closed.”

Miller was taken into custody by Ansonia Police Officer Mark Guillet the morning of Sept. 2 after a manhunt by Ansonia and Derby cops.

The Ansonia Police Department Patrol Division as well as the Detective Division were instrumental in bringing these cases to a close by capturing Miller in related burglaries in Derby,” Cota said in the prepared statement. The detective division then gathered evidence, processed scenes and prepared arrest warrants for Miller.”

Miller was arraigned on the new charges Wednesday in Milford, where the cases were continued to Dec. 11.

He is being held on bonds totaling $300,000 at MacDougall-Walker Correctional Institution in Suffield.
