Ansonia has hired two new cops.
Allen Luna, 29, of Naugatuck, and Brian Caruso, 22, of Ansonia, were sworn in by Mayor David Cassetti Oct. 7 at the monthly meeting of the Board of Police Commissioners.
Both will begin training at the Milford Police Academy Oct. 23, and are scheduled to graduate May 23.
They will then begin field training in Ansonia, which lasts about 12 weeks, before beginning regular patrol duties sometime next August.
They will earn a base salary of about $61,000.
“I am pleased to welcome Officer Luna and Officer Caruso Ansonia’s Police Department,” Cassetti said in a prepared statement. “We have a growing Latino population in Ansonia and we want to ensure that they are well represented in city government.”
