Ansonia is known for dominant football teams, and officials lauded another Tuesday.
The Ansonia Soccer Club’s U14 boys team took an undefeated 11 – 0 record into the Joseph A Conte Recreational Tournament last month and ran the table like Germans in Brazil.
The team blanked New Haven 4 – 0 in the championship match.
In their four tournament games they scored 15 goals and conceded only two.
Ansonia officials recognized the team at City Hall Tuesday during the monthly meeting of the Board of Aldermen, where the team led the Pledge of Allegiance to begin the meeting.
Later, Mayor David Cassetti gave the team a shout-out during his monthly remarks to the board.
Cassetti credited coaches Pedro Guevara and Victor Erazo and the support of the players’ parents and families for supporting them on their incredible run.
