Ansonia police have charged a Central Street man with shooting his son during a domestic dispute last month.
Dennis Softleigh, 47, faces charges of first-degree assault, unlawful discharge of a firearm, and carrying a firearm while under the influence.
In a prepared statement, Ansonia Police Lt. Patrick Lynch said that “the shooting took place during a domestic dispute between Softleigh and his 23-year-old son.”
The victim was shot in the stomach but released from the hospital a few days after the incident, Lynch said in an email Tuesday.
Lynch said Softleigh was held on a $50,000 bond and taken to court for arraignment.
Updated court information was unavailable late Tuesday.
The Jan. 17 incident was one of four shootings in Ansonia since late November.
