A crash on Beaver Street Tuesday may have been an attempted suicide, police said.
The driver was only identified as a 23-year-old woman.
She’s now in a hospital and in stable condition.
The crash happened near the Beaverbrook Apartments at 5:15 p.m., according to Ansonia police.
Police said the woman was despondent over personal issues, “and may have been trying to take her own life.”
Her name was not released.
“Officers found injuries consistent with an attempted suicide,” police said in a statement, “but it is unknown if the accident was part of the suicide attempt, or (whether the accident was) the result of the effects of the self-inflicted injuries.”
