Ansonia Police Announce Four Drug Arrests

Ansonia police on Wednesday (Jan. 29) announced several recent drug arrests made in connection with warrants obtained by the department’s Anti-Crime Unit.

Each one of these arrests were related to complaints received from residents and involved the possession and sale of cocaine/crack,” Ansonia Police Lt. Andrew Cota said in a prepared statement. These cases were initiated by the Anti-Crime Unit and also involved uniformed patrol officers.”

On Jan. 17, police arrested Jonathan Levey, a 44-year-old Third Street resident, on three arrest warrants stemming from an investigation in the Olson Drive housing complex.

Police found Levey on North Main Street and took him into custody.

He was charged with three counts each of possession of narcotics, possession of narcotics within 1,500 feet of a school, sale of narcotics and sale of narcotics within 1,500 feet of a school.

Levey posted $20,000 bond and is scheduled to appear at Superior Court in Derby Thursday (Jan. 30)

Also Jan. 17, police arrested Geovani Marcano, 21, of Lester Street, in connection with arrest warrants charging him with selling drugs in the Olson Drive area.

Marcano was charged with possession of narcotics, possession of narcotics within 1,500 feet of a school, sale of narcotics, sale of narcotics within 1,500 feet of a school, conspiracy to commit sale of narcotics, and conspiracy to commit sale of narcotics within 1,500 feet of a school.

Marcano posted $20,000 bond and is due in court Jan. 31, police said.

Four days later, on Jan. 21, police charged Akeem Gonzalez, 24, of West Main Street, on another warrant in connection with the same drug investigation in the Olson Drive area.

He was charged with conspiracy to commit sale of narcotics and conspiracy to commit sale of narcotics within 1,500 feet of a school.

Gonzalez also posted $20,000 bond.

He is due at Superior Court in Derby Feb. 4.

On Jan. 18, police arrested Claude Perry III, 19, of 39 Myrtle Ave., on four arrest warrants connected to other narcotics investigations conducted by the Anti-Crime Unit.

He faces four counts each of sale of narcotics and possession of narcotics, as well as three counts each of possession of narcotics within 1,500 feet of a school and sale of narcotics within 1,500 feet of a school.

Perry was held on $40,000 bond and arraigned at Superior Court in Derby Jan. 21.

There, Judge Karen Sequino lowered his bond to $20,000 and continued the cases to Feb. 18.
