Ansonia Police Charge Two After Raids

Police arrested two people Saturday morning after conducting simultaneous raids at homes in Beacon Falls and Ansonia.

In a prepared statement, Ansonia Police Lt. Andrew Cota said the police department’s anti-crime unit, as well as detectives and patrol officers, executed search warrants about 8 a.m. May 8 at a first-floor apartment of 14 May St. in Ansonia and 14 Church St. in Beacon Falls.

The search warrants were executed as the result of an investigation into narcotics trafficking and sales from both residences,” Cota said.

The Beacon Falls raid yielded .2 grams of suspected” cocaine.

A resident of that home, Anthony Berrios, 35, who was there at the time with his girlfriend and two children, was arrested and charged with possession of narcotics.

At 14 May St. in Ansonia, police found 6.9 ounces of marijuana, narcotics packaging materials, and a pipe, Cota said.

A resident of that home, Anna Tevay, 24, was arrested and charged with possession of more than four ounces of marijuana, possession of marijuana with intent to sell, possession of more than four ounces of marijuana within 1,500 feet of a school, possession of marijuana with intent to sell within 1,500 feet of a school, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of drug paraphernalia within 1,500 feet of a school, conspiracy to possess more than four ounces of marijuana, and conspiracy to possess marijuana with intent to sell.

The home is within 1,500 feet of Ansonia Middle School on Howard Avenue, police said.

Berrios, who police said also spent time and lived at 14 May St., was additionally charged with conspiracy to possess more than four ounces of marijuana and conspiracy to possess marijuana with intent to sell.

Police said Tevay and Berrios are scheduled to appear at Superior Court in Derby May 22.
