Ansonia Police Officer Charged With Disorderly Conduct

An Ansonia police officer is on paid leave after Milford police charged him with a misdemeanor in connection to a domestic dispute.

Officer Christopher Kelley is accused of grabbing his girlfriend by her throat, according to an arrest warrant on file in Superior Court in Milford. Her nose was bleeding when police arrived.

She declined medical attention.

The incident happened Saturday. Ansonia police were alerted Sunday. Milford police obtained a warrant and Kelley was charged Monday. He’s due in court Wednesday (April 27).

In a prepared statement, Ansonia Police Lt. Andrew Cota said Ansonia police will conduct their own internal investigation while Kelley is on leave.

Kelley, 36, has been with the Ansonia police since July 2013, Cota said. His base salary is about $63,000.
