Ansonia Tax Collector To Retire

Tammy Blackwell, the Ansonia Tax Collector placed on leave last week after the mayor said irregularities” were discovered in her office, has has indicated her intention to retire and is filing paperwork,” John Marini, the city’s corporation counsel, said Thursday.

The move comes as the city waits on state prosecutors to determine the next step in the investigation of the irregularities. 

The probe was prompted by $700 that went unaccounted for at some point last month.

Per a vote of the city’s Aldermen Tuesday, the next step may involve a forensic audit. 

Blackwell has not been accused of any wrongdoing.
