Bank Robbed In Shelton, Again

photo:ethan fryThe Wells Fargo bank on Shelton’s Coram Avenue was robbed at gunpoint for the second time in four months about 4 p.m. Thursday (April 10).

In a prepared statement Shelton Police Lt. Robert Kozlowsky said a white man wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and carrying a gray book bag entered the bank and showed a handgun.

The man fled with an undetermined amount of cash, Kozlowsky said.

No injuries were reported.

Detective Sgt. Kevin Ahern said at the scene about 4:30 p.m. that police were following up on leads but couldn’t comment further so early into the investigation.

Police asked that anyone with information call 203 – 924-1544.

Cops from Shelton and Derby swarmed the area in the moments after the stick-up.

Several officers searched and took photos in the area behind a building at the intersection of Howe Avenue and Cornell Street, about two blocks from the bank.

Police also looked in recycling and trash containers on Cornell Street before canvassing the area asking residents if they saw anything suspicious around the time of the robbery.

Thursday’s stick-up marks the second time the bank has been robbed in four months.

On Dec. 10, 2013, two men robbed the bank, displaying a handgun before fleeing on foot, police said at the time.

There have been no arrests made in that case.
