Bridgeport Man Charged With Shelton Home Invasion

Shelton police have charged a Bridgeport man with robbing a Quaker Ridge Road home in January where they later allegedly found a marijuana growing operation.

Francisco Colon-Cotto, 23, was arrested Wednesday (Aug. 3) at Superior Court in Bridgeport, where he was due to appear in an unrelated case.

Colon-Cotto faces charges of home invasion, conspiracy to commit home invasion, first-degree robbery, conspiracy to commit first-degree robbery, second-degree unlawful restraint, and conspiracy to commit unlawful restraint.

The investigation is still ongoing with additional arrests expected,” a prepared statement from Shelton Police Detective Christopher Nugent said.

Court information for Colon-Cotto was not available late Thursday.

Police said the charges date to Jan. 8, when a Quaker Ridge Road man called police after he said two men broke into his house, tied him up and robbed him.

The resident of the home was eventually arrested himself after police said they discovered a marijuana grow operation in the basement of the house.

The resident vehemently denied the pot growing allegations in an interview with the Valley Indy, and is due back in court next month.
