Calling All Artists!

It was Leopold Stokowski who once said: A painter paints pictures on canvas. But musicians paint their pictures on silence.”

This was the inspiration for a new, innovative, Art Exhibition that the Valley Arts Council is planning Titled: FACE THE MUSIC – A Competitive Exhibition of Sight and Sound.”

The Arts Council would like to invite ALL artists and photographers from amateur to the seasoned professional to illustrate or interpret their favorite song through their art.

Music has long been one of the most dynamic sources of inspiration to Artists since the dawn of history. A yearning for artists from all walks of life in every medium. Some will refer to this as the Exhibition of their Dreams” and The Valley Arts Council is going to make it a reality.

Prizes will be awarded for first and second place as well as a special People’s Choice Award.”

Artwork will be judged on how well the Artist represents the vision of the songwriter, whether its literal or through artist’s personal interpretation of what the song says to them.

We have invited a special guest judge, Ann Marie Popanagnosou, the creative director of Four Culture Magazine“, a cutting edge, music and art magazine that is sweeping the industry!

The exhibit will have an unprecedented, two night opening reception on Friday and Saturday, May 24 and 25.

The reception is FREE and open to the public!

The exhibit will run from May 23 through July 6.

The Arts Council’s Gallery@37, located at 37 Elizabeth St. in Derby will serve as the location for this event.

There will music, art and light refreshments served. Artist, musician or not this is an exhibition that should not be missed!
