John Marini, Ansonia’s corporation counsel, sent the following statement on behalf of Mayor David Cassetti Friday (July 8).
I respect the Board of Education’s stance on the solicitation letter sent in support of Ansonia schools.
However, I also stand by the importance of charitable giving and its ability to relieve residents of involuntary tax increases.
The City has fundraised for Ansonia schools in the past, and will remain willing to do so in the future.
The City will also continue honor all donations made to the Board of Education for the benefit of our children and teachers.
