Cassetti: Eversource To Pay For Temporary Wakelee Avenue Fix

Ansonia Mayor David Cassetti said a temporary fix” resurfacing project on Wakelee Avenue will start immediately — and be paid for by Eversource Energy, the company the city blames for the poor condition of the road.

At a June 14 forum dozens of residents expressed frustration with the slow pace of a reconstruction project first announced more than two years ago.

The mayor also spoke about the project Monday during an appearance on Navel Gazing,” the Valley Indy’s podcast.

In a prepared statement Thursday (June 22), Cassetti said he has secured a commitment from Eversource Energy to fund the resurfacing of Wakelee Avenue.”

The resurfacing project, funded by Eversource at the cost of approximately $26,000 will be a temporary fix until the city’s $5 million road reconstruction initiative commences,” the mayor said.

Work, by Burns Construction, will be commencing immediately,” the mayor said.

The mayor said residents with claims of damage to their motor vehicles or property caused by the road can contact Eversource’s claims office at 203 – 270-5890 and speak to Michael Cala.
