On Friday (Oct. 7), the Ansonia Police Department will participate in a nationwide event entitled “Coffee with a Cop”, at Starbucks located within the Target store at 20 West Main St.
“Coffee with a Cop” began in Hawthorne, CA in 2011 as a way for police officers and members of the community to come together to meet and talk over a cup of coffee. The idea is that a casual conversation in a relaxed setting is a great way to break through barriers.
This program has received funding through the office of the Community Oriented Police Services, COPS, a division of the United States Department of Justice.
It has grown dramatically each year, expanding into Australia, Europe, and Africa.
