Conroy To Lead Internship Committee

Speaker of the House Brendan Sharkey has appointed Rep. Theresa Conroy (D‑Seymour, Beacon Falls, Derby) to chair the Legislature’s Internship Committee which has oversight of the Connecticut legislative internship program.

I am very proud of our internship program and opportunities it provides to students across the state,” Rep. Conroy said. Students are immersed in the legislative process during the legislative session and provided an insider’s view of the Capitol.”

The internship program provides educational opportunities not typically available to students in the traditional academic setting. The program acquaints students with both the formal and informal aspects of the legislative process.

I feel like I have come full circle. One of my most rewarding and educational experiences was my own time as an intern for the Planning and Development Committee of the Connecticut General Assembly,” Conroy said.

The program is open to undergraduate students who are attending two or four year institutions of higher education in Connecticut and state residents attending out-of-state colleges.
