Derby Car Cruise To Benefit Spooner House

On Sunday, Oct. 25 Heav’nly Donuts will be hosting a final fall car cruise to collect canned goods and non-perishable food items to benefit Spooner House.

Spooner House has the mission of providing food, shelter and support services to people in need.

This last chance to show off your classic car will take place from noon to 6 p.m. at Heav’nly Donuts, 653 New Haven Ave. in Derby.

Heav’nly Donuts hosted the cruise car days every Sunday afternoon from Mothers’ Day until late October.

Cruisers and spectators who come to see all the great cars and motorcycles and who bring canned goods and non-perishable food items will be helping some of this winter’s hardest hit people.

The pantries need to be stocked for the upcoming winter.

These tough economic times coupled with the Farmer’s Almanac prediction for another rough winter,” explained Ernie Badas, owner of Heav’nly Donuts, means we need to help Spooner House now since they have always been there to provide food, shelter and other support services for people in the lower Naugatuck Valley. If good fall weather prevails, I anticipate about 150 classic cars and each will receive a special end of season dash plate, while supplies last.”

In case of inclement weather, the rain date for the final car cruise to Benefit Spooner House will take place the following Sunday, Nov. 1.
