Derby’s Irving School Observes International Day Of Peace

The United Nations’ (UN) International Day of Peace is celebrated every year on Sept. 21 to recognize the efforts of those who have worked hard to end conflict and promote peace.

On the International Day of Peace, people around the world take part in various activities and organize events centered on the theme peace.”

Events vary from private gatherings to public concerts and forums involving large audiences.

Here at Irving students made Peace Tags” which illustrated where they would like to see peace,” said art teacher Charlice Culvert.

The tags were then hung on the trees. The trees were inspired by Yoko Ono’s interactive artwork Wish Tree.”

Other celebrations around the world might include a toast, song, prayer, tree planting, picnic or an art exhibit promoting peace.
